I am interested in Grace Ada (Wickware) Vancleef and her daugher Grace Vancleef. The granddaughter of Napolean B. Wickare of Akron was adopted by the Seymour Reed family of Oakfield N.Y. in 1895 at the age of 5. She was Napolean’s only heir at the time of his death in 1900. Does anyone know how she came to be adopted by the Reed family who were no relation? Also, does anyone have any information on her mother Grace?
I am a member of the Oakfield Historical Society and I am doing a program on the Reed Family as they built a home in 1891 that now is our museum. In my research I discovered Grace.
Thank you in advance
